Mission

WVOF (Voice Of Fairfield) is Fairfield University's student run radio station. We broadcast 24 hours a day, 7 days a week at 88.5FM. From our FM and Web studios, our student members broadcast live commentary for Fairfield University's men’s and women’s sports, host news and talk shows, DJ music shows, and engage in our on campus activities. In addition to hosting Community DJ's shows, WVOF shares WNPR programming courtesy of our partnership with Connecticut Public Broadcasting.

Goals

We provide students and community members a platform to deliver their unique content to the university and the surrounding area. Listen anytime, anywhere 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

History

WVOF commenced operations in the spring of 1970 as a carrier current radio station heard on 620 AM serving the residence halls located in the “quad” of Fairfield University located in Fairfield, CT. In the early 1970s, the station submitted the first application to the FCC for an FM license. The first antenna was placed on Canisius Hall, and WVOF's record library was kept in the basement of Regis Hall. By 1976 there were two broadcast studios and one production studio.

In 2002, Fairfield University's worldwide, state-of-the-art radio station opened for business in a brand new three-studio complex in the John A. Barone Campus Center. WVOF regularly hears from listeners from around the world. To this day, students and community members produce unique content in our FM, Web and Production studio located in the Lower Level of the Barone Campus Center. You can listen in the Fairfield County area live on 88.5FM, and anywhere in the world on our website and through the TuneIn app.
